Dial Eco-Smart Liquid Soap Pouch

Overview

Dial Eco-Smart Liquid Soap Pouch Refills use 67% less plastic than bottle refills and require significantly less energy to produce and ship. The new Easy Pour Spout gives consumers the convenience of fast filling without spilling. This pouch also allows consumers to enjoy a flexible, collapsible bag.

In summary, this new pouch makes a difference by using less packaging, less energy to produce and transport, and by having a smaller impact on land fills. This also helps solve the key consumer complaint with refills, that they are messy and hard to use.

Motivation for Change

The change was made because the refill bag is economically and ecologically smart.Economically Smart:

Refills save you money vs. new pumps.

Easy pour spout and flexible pouch provides fast filling without spilling (less clean up and lost product)

More bags per truckload from manufacturing facility to filling facility.

Ecologically Smart:

Compared to bottle refills, this pouches uses 67% less plastic, 86% less materials (transportation and fuel)

Significantly less energy to produce.

This also helps solve the key consumer complaint with refills, that they are messy and hard to use.

Cost Effectiveness

In terms of cost effectiveness, savings were recognized through reduced energy required for production, lower material cost and lower freight.

Performance

The fitment on the pouch fits into the neck of the bottle, increasing ease of use and less spillage. The flexible container and Easy Pour Spout also provide consumer Fast Filling Without Spilling. This helps solve the key consumer complaint with refills, that they are messy and hard to use.

Sourcing

The light weight pouch is made of 48ga PET/ADH/60ga Biax Nylon/ADH/6mil LLDPE. The fitment is PP.

Clean Production

The plastic pouch uses 67% less plastic and 86% less materials in transportation and fuel.

We use only water for sanitizing the equipment for the filling operation.

Community Benefit

We can get more units per truckload with the refill pouch than with the traditional rigid plastic bottle, resulting in a decrease in transportational resources per consumer use. We eliminate the need to have a separate shipment of pumps, as the fitment is already integrated in the pouch.

Material Health

Compared to traditional plastic bottles, the refill pouch has a significantly lower impact on landfills.

Resource & Energy Optimization

-Uses less than 23 grams of plastic, compared to almost 69 grams required for a bottle. This is a 67 % reduction in plastic
