The Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) Design Library is an online library to showcase packaging innovation and solutions that implement sustainable attributes.

The Design Library is an educational resource meant to inspire packaging designers, manufacturers, engineers and students, and features winners from packaging award programs.

The current award winners from the DuPont, PAC, and Greener Package sustainability-focused awards are based on the eight criteria that comprise the SPC Definition of Sustainable Packaging. In the future, as more packaging award programs recognize the importance of incorporating sustainability attributes, the library will be expanded to include those award winners.

The Library is managed by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, an industry working group with over 200 members from across the packaging supply chain. The Coalition is a project of GreenBlue, a nonprofit that equips business with the science and resources to make products more sustainable.

Is beneficial, safe & healthy for individuals and communities throughout its life cycle;
Meets market criteria for performance and cost;
Is sourced, manufactured, transported, and recycled using renewable energy;
Optimizes the use of renewable or recycled source materials;
Is manufactured using clean production technologies and best practices;
Is made from materials healthy in all probable end of life scenarios;
Is physically designed to optimize materials and energy;
Is effectively recovered and utilized in biological and/or industrial closed loop cycles.
